My Approach To Online and In-Person Therapy in Coral Springs
It’s a big decision to start counseling. It makes sense that you have questions.
The process of counseling involves a relationship between therapist and client, where we work together to create a safe space of healing to address all aspects of life.
In our sessions, you will have the opportunity to guide the conversation as we address the concerns on your mind each week. My job is to highlight important themes and patterns, and offer you a space for self-reflection as you grow into the next chapter of life.
What will we do during each session?
The first session begins with a conversation. I want to get to know you, your world, goals, strengths, challenges, and changes you’d like to see in your life. Together, we're able to explore the reasons that initially brought you to therapy and discover the potential growth and healing possibilities.
We'll work together to create a treatment plan, which is just a set of strategies that I believe will help you and serve as a guideline to help navigate our time together.
For some, they are less concerned about how it works, only that it works. Others want to know what to expect, from the first phone call to three months in. While I’m happy to answer all questions on a person-by-person basis, here is an overview of my therapeutic style:

Are you ready to harness the power of healing that could change your life without having to re-live the things that hurt you?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a scientific process that supports your psychological wellbeing by using the power of your brain to help you heal deeply traumatic memories.
You can use the scientific power of EMDR to re-write the associations you have with trauma and break free of its hold forever.
In EMDR, we’ll use personalized preparation tools to activate a unique stimulation pattern that will reduce the brain’s reaction with memories associated with traumatic points in your life. Through these techniques, you’ll detach from the past and move forward with new resiliency.
Through EMDR, I will help you:
Elevate your mood while decreasing your stress
Reclaim a sense of resiliency and hope for the future
Develop a positive beliefs statement that will empower you
Increase your productivity and improve your sleep
Take back the power of emotional regulation and association
Do you want your therapist to help you feel powerful instead of commiserating on your concerns?
Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is just as the name suggests. It is a form of therapy that focuses on finding solutions within the strengths you already possess.
What if we focus more on your present experience and goals, rather than painstakingly review your past?
My style of solution-focused brief therapy helps you manage any current symptoms and cope with distress and any other challenges you face.
Through Solution Focused Therapy, together we will:
Pay attention any changes that happen between our consultation and the first session
Recognize meaningful metaphors that shape the way that you view the world
Discover what life would be like if the problem that brought you in for therapy was miraculously solved
Learn about times when the problem wasn’t a problem
Make incremental changes by doing one thing different
Track the progression of the problem
Celebrate your resources and resilience that has brought you this far
As much as you want to look towards the future, are there aspects of the past that hold you back?
Narrative therapy focuses on re-storying and reworking any narrative you’re holding on to that is not helpful to you.
What do you need to let go of?
We can work together to help create a new narrative that is based on alignment with your skills, values, and beliefs.
Through Narrative Therapy, together we will:
Discover the story you’ve been telling yourself so far
Find meaning and purpose in your interpretation of your life’s events
Recognize the challenges you face as something outside of yourself; a behavior, not an aspect of personality
Specify and understand the root of the problem
Reimagine the problem as you pursue new storylines
Create meaning and purpose in your life
Do you wish you had tools to call on in moments of stress, something to help you make it to the next moment?
Cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on addressing counseling by working with your thought and behavioral patterns.
I can help you find actionable solutions and teach you tools you can use to handle day-to-day moments of stress.
In CBT, we will assess the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When we improve your relationship with your thoughts, it greatly impacts the other two components.
Through CBT, I will help you:
Learn to recognize and reframe negative or unhelpful thought patterns
Challenge your beliefs and broaden your perspective
Track your moods, emotions, and repetitive thoughts through journaling
Schedule positive activities and use Behavioral Activation strategies to improve problem solving skills
Use behavioral experiments to overcome catastrophic thinking
Learn relaxation and stress reduction strategies
How will I know it’s working?
Counseling is a process, and it takes time. That is because working through your emotions, problems, and dynamics is hard work. The progress you see in counseling is highly dependent on how committed you are during the session and outside of the session.
However, as you start to progress in your counseling journey you might start to see progress in the following ways:
You are more mindful of the present moment, rather than being in your head.
You see improvements in your relationships
You are starting to enjoy life again
You have started making self-care a priority
You are taking responsibility for your actions and problems
You see yourself in a different and more positive light
You start to look forward to your therapy sessions.
