Meet Alexa.
Top Rated Coral Springs Therapist
You’re in search of the perfect therapist.
You have several tabs open on your browser, each with a therapist that claims to be the best therapist in Coral Springs, but how can you be sure that they’re right for you?
It’s hard to sort through countless profiles and pick the best therapist for you, let alone trust them enough to open up, or know that they care.
You want better.
You need a therapist that offers more than a blank stare, more than a ‘nodder’. You need someone who is responsive, someone who will find you resources, someone who is not just going to sit there for those 50 minutes.
After all, this is about YOU.
In our work together, you'll notice that nothing is more important to me than your goal for yourself and your family. We will always work to make sense of the conflict you face based on the specific experiences of your family. My goal for our work together is to ignite your hope for the future as you take steps to build stronger relationships with those around you.
The Therapy Process is The Discovery of New Possibilities
If you’ve never been to therapy before, it’s difficult to describe the specific power available to you in the therapy room.
The power of feeling seen, heard, and known.
What makes a Good Therapist?
A good therapist looks forward to their day, to the clients they have the honor of working with, and the stories they have the privilege of hearing.
You want to work with someone who can keep their facts straight, not someone who seems overwhelmed and scattered themselves, who rarely looks up from their notes to make a personal connection.
A good therapist knows who they can help, and who may require some extra care.
What makes a Good Client?
You’re not off the hook here.
The most successful client is someone who’s open to the possibilities of change, who has some hope that there is a better life waiting for them, and they are invested in the process. When you’re looking for true life change, often that requires a significant investment of time and effort.
If that sounds like you, then we should have no problem finding the change that you seek.
Therapy with Alexa
The flow of my sessions is born out of an intuitive place within me and backed by the knowledge I’ve gained from years of schooling and experience. I operate very much “in-the-now”, and as much as possible, try to bring the client into the moment with me.
Every question that I ask has a purpose.
While we may still follow your lead in session, I have a plan for our time together, and I know the destination. We gain insight when we can connect what’s happening in the moment to the larger story of our lives.
The “Person”
I’ve had my own share of trauma that I’m thankful to have overcome with the resources I’ve found along the way.
From an early age, I had to understand many different cultures.
Growing up in Brazil, within a multicultural family, I needed to understand and cope with various cultures, I had to meet expectations from my family, my peers, and the Brazilian society (which were often contradictory), and discover my own identity in all of it.
Later in life, my mind was opened, and I learned to be grateful for my experiences.
As I grew and eventually spent time traveling, my mind was opened to the world's philosophies and cultures. It drew me to learn more about the world and the people who live in it. Reading a variety of religious and philosophical books became my passion and served to widen my life’s perspective and spiritual foundation.
Even today, I continue to call on those experiences in my life and work.
I meditate daily and operate from a mindfulness perspective. I enjoy using these lenses to help ground myself and even the therapy process feels very spiritual for me.
I too have been guilty of ignoring the guiding voice inside me.
When I arrived in the United States for my undergraduate studies, I quickly realized that I was missing my calling.
Despite my knowledge that I wasn’t in the right career, I spent many years ignoring that small voice inside me.
Deciding that I wanted better for myself, I found the courage to make the change.
It wasn't until I adopted my daughter that I realigned my life’s priorities with the person I wanted to be, and the passion that I wanted to share. I left Corporate America and decided to enroll in the Marriage and Family Therapy Master's Program at Nova Southeastern University. This has brought so much meaning to my life in countless ways.
What I have proven to myself time and time again, is that with passion, perseverance, and confidence in ourselves, we really can expand our lives into infinite possibilities.

Fun Facts
When I am not in session, you will find me out with my family at the beach or taking short trips to explore nature. My heart feels whole when I’m listening to some good music, meeting new people, and having a laugh. These moments ground me and make me thankful for living in such a beautiful place as South Florida.
The “Therapist”
I genuinely believe that each person carries the solutions to their problems.
With this mindset, my approach is to realign you with your strengths and talents. By deepening the roots of what we already know about ourselves, we grow our trust in the skills and traits we already possess. To accomplish this, I use strength-based Solution Focused Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
From the culture we identify with, to the family we were raised with, I help my clients understand that they are a vital "part of the whole."
We all have numerous relationships we have been building since being born. These relationships mold the way we perceive and interact with the world. As we work together, I will help grow your awareness of the systems that impact your current thinking.
When we collaboratively create a deeper understanding of our experiences, we can find our voice and become the "hero" and author of the story.
When working with my clients— teens and adults dealing with trauma, anxiety, or low self-esteem—I also use a Narrative Therapy approach. Using this approach, the client and I will re-story their past and help them acknowledge their problems as separate from themselves. By doing this, we can re-write their stories and unlock their creativity, resourcefulness, and talents, to help them find the solutions needed.
I truly enjoy the work I do, learning the history of each client, and using meaningful interaction to bring about healing in their lives.
When working with me, clients will experience genuine care, compassionate support, and the simple power of being listened to. I'm involved, passionate, and committed to connecting with those who come to me for help, and it is a true honor to bear witness to their stories. It is fulfilling to learn how each client has come to be where they are on their journey and provide approaches that help guide them towards a more meaningful life.
My Experience
Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University - 2011
Member of the professions' body of regulation, The American Academy of Marriage and Family Therapy - since 2014
My experience started with an internship at an Intensive Outpatient Program in Hollywood, Florida, where I co-facilitated group therapy for clients stepping down from the hospital setting. After graduation, I worked at Henderson Behavioral Health as a youth therapist dealing with a wide variety of family issues. This was the first time I started working with teens and young adults, which I enjoy to this day.
Next, I worked as a Counselor for PACE Center for Girls, a therapeutic school setting for teen girls at risk and facing trial through the Department of Juvenile Justice. There I worked very comprehensively with teens and their families and utilized a systemic approach to heal the whole family unit. My experience included intervening in many high risk cases, including trauma, involvement in the court system, and emergency facilities. I facilitated numerous Baker Acts and navigated the specific challenges that come with serving teens in the LGBTQ+ community.
In 2014, I began my private practice focused on adults, teens, and their families dealing with life transitions, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. I have been able to integrate my experiences to create a practice that bridges cultures and generations. Since being in private practice, I have attended several post graduate trainings dealing with trauma and relationships. This is a constant priority in my continuous search for further professional competence. I help my clients tune into their inner voice, re-story the past, and decide on the direction for their future.
Our office is open and taking in-person clients.
